Subway Calorie Count: Is it All It’s Cracked Up to Be?

Everyone knows the story of Jared by now, but does it really jive with the Subway calorie count?

Can you really eat a Subway diet and lose more than 200 pounds?

If you do it the smart way, like Jared did, you can.

The key to overcoming obesity is consuming fewer calories than you burn.

The Subway calorie menu varies widely, so it depends on:

  • Which sandwich you choose and
  • how you choose to make that sandwich

That will determine if you lose weight or not.

You need to pick a sandwich with a low Subway calorie count, and you can’t load it up with high calorie items.

The sandwiches with the lowest calorie count include seven sandwiches with fewer than six grams of fat each.

These are:

  • The Veggie Delite
  • Savory Turkey Breast
  • Savory Turkey Breast and Ham
  • Oven Roasted Chicken Breast
  • Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki
  • Honey Mustard Ham
  • Roast Beef and
  • Subway Club.

Calories for these six-inch subs range from 230 for the Veggie Delite to 380 for the Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki.

Even the rest of the Subway menu isn’t bad.

Their sandwich with the highest Subway calorie count is the Meatball Marinara with 377 for a six-inch sandwich.

Remember, though, that these numbers double if you get the 12-inch sub.

The other thing you need to watch out for so that calories don’t add up quickly is what you add.

Adding veggies, like lettuce, peppers and cucumbers adds no calories, and adding tomato and onion adds only five calories.

Adding cheese, however, adds as much as 110 more calories, and adding mayonnaise can add the same.

If you must:

  • Add American cheese because it has the lowest Subway calorie count with 40 calories and
  • Chose the light mayonnaise with 50 calories.

Subway also offers eight salads that have fewer than six grams of fat each.

These include:

  • Grilled Chicken Breast and Baby Spinach
  • Grilled Chicken Breast Strips
  • Ham, Roast Beef, Subway Club
  • Turkey Breast
  • Turkey Breast and
  • Ham and Veggie Delite.

The Subway calorie count on these salads range from 60 calories for the Veggie Delite to 160 for the Subway Club.

Subway only offers three salad dressings, and you’ll want to go with the fat-free Italian at 35 calories.

Your other two choices:

  • Adkins Sweet and Honey Mustard and
  • Ranch both add on 200 calories – more calories than your salad!

If you need to choose fast food because of your busy lifestyle, the Subway calorie count really makes it one of your best options out there.

You can eat healthy and low calorie by hitting a Subway.

Choosing wisely when eating on the run is just another way that you can overcome obesity!

Here are a few more tips that will put you on the right track to losing weight.

What You Can Do To Start Losing Weight Right Now:
