A sedentary lifestyle will cause you to gain weight.

The more you sit around and eat without exercising; the heavier you will become.

It is just plain simple math: if you consume more calories than you burn off you will gain weight.

But; how much weight?

Remember: you must burn 3500 more calories than you eat in order to lose 1 pound of body fat.

The opposite is also true.

But, what is a sedentary lifestyle?

A sedentary lifestyle is one in which a person performs no exercising outside of their typical workday.

You see, your normal activities really do not count.

In order for the activity to count, you must maintain your target heart rate for a least 20 minutes.

Your target heart rate equals 220 minus your aides time 0.60 to 0.75.

Example:

Your age is 40.

So, 220 -40 equals 180 time 0.60 equals 108; 180 time 0.75 equals 135.

Take the middle of these two numbers: 135 plus 108 equals 243, divided by two equals 121.5.

At age 40, your target heart rate would be 120 beats per minute for 20 minutes.

When the CDC performed a survey asking adults if they engaged in any exercises, sports, or physical activity, four out of 10 said "No."

This is basically 40% of Americans that say they never exercise!

No wonder the obesity rate in America is rising!
