Helping Teens Maintain a Healthy Weight with the Height Weight Scale

Teenagers especially may find height weight scales useful for a couple or reasons.

One is that the teenage years tend to be ones that produce a great deal of anxiety over weight and body image.

A weight scale can either assure you that your weight is just fine, or it may motivate you to begin a healthier lifestyle.

Secondly, using this scale as a teen will help you begin a lifelong focus on maintaining optimum health.

A height weight scale compares your height to your weight and lets you know if you are in a healthy weight range.

Taller people are naturally going to weigh more than shorter people, so the scale takes that into consideration.

Most of these scales will also account for whether you are male or female, and whether you have a small, medium or large frame.

Teens should also consider the activities they involve themselves in.

If you participate in a lot of sports at school, particularly those that require you to build muscle by lifting weights, you could likely weigh more than the height weight scale recommends and still have a very healthy body composition.

Muscle weighs more than fat, so a muscular person may register a high weight on the height weight scale yet have very little body fat.

Be sure to honestly consider how much muscle you have when using the scale.

If you are relatively inactive and don’t play on any sports teams, you probably don’t have enough muscle weight that it would put you outside of the recommended range on the height weight scale.

If you do weigh more than the scale recommends, now is the time to take control of the weight problem so that you don’t face a lifelong struggle with it.

In general, particularly in young people, excess weight is simply a result of consuming more calories than you are burning.

Take the time to review your diet and remove high calorie or high fat foods from it, replacing them with healthy low calorie alternatives.

Also increase the amount of time you spend exercising.

Walk more, participate on a sports team or join a gym.

These are habits that are well worth forming, as they will be beneficial for the rest of your life.

The teenage years can be filled with self esteem issues and dealing with acceptance among your peers.

You can take control and make sure that your weight and body image isn’t adding to these issues by monitoring your place on a height weight scale.

In addition to providing you with a good self image, achieving your optimum weight will also provide you with more energy and make you a healthier person overall.

Conquering obesity now is well worth the effort!

Go ahead. Start right now.
